Private Beta - Frequently Asked Questions

What is Safe-esteem?

Safe-esteem is the world’s first personal risk and safety digital assistant. Harnessing the power of big data, geolocation, analytics and risk management expertise, Safe-esteem provides you with a real-time, 360-degree view of your personal safety. Like a guardian angel, it moves with you during the day to measure and advise you on changes to your personal risk. You also have visibility on the risks to any friends and family members you add to your circle. With this insight, you are empowered to take charge of the safety to you and your loved ones.

How does it work?

No two people are the same. This is also true with their risks. Safe-esteem uses your personal information to evaluate your risk in three domains: crime, accident and health. These scores use the same scale and represent your total exposure to personal risk, allowing to understand what is most important, take active steps to manage your risks, and improve your quality of life.

Crime: Your personal crime risk score is calculated in many cases to the level of a city neighborhood, allowing you to understand your personal exposure to this risk. It accounts for your personal demographics, activity, proximity to home and other factors that are then used to estimate your risk.

Accident: Similar to crime risk, your accident risk score indicates your personalized exposure and accounts for multiple factors including your personal demography. This risk domain is particularly material when you are using a form of transport.

Health: Health risk is assessed using relevant data sets and is generally a less dynamic dimension when compared with crime and accident risks.

How are your risk scores calculated?

Safe-esteem calculates your personal risk exposure using proprietary methodologies that account for your personal profile. Your risk scores are truly your own. The risk scores that you generate account not only for your personal characteristics, but also local risk data and other factors that either increase or decrease your risk scores. The bottom line – the more Safe-esteem learns about you, the better it can advise you.

Please note that Safe-esteem's risk scores are presently under development and will be refined/updated during the Beta deployment phase.

What is your Safe-e Score?

Your Safe-e Score is your personal life-safety barometer. The higher the score, the safer you are. Like your FICO financial risk score, your Safe-e Score is highly personalized and reflects your risk profile and behaviors over time. Rather than providing updated snapshots of your risks in three impact areas, your Safe-e Score takes a holistic, long-term view in assessing your overall safety.

How do I track the safety of family and friends?

You can add family members and friends to your circle with their permission. Each of you can determine the level of access granted to others, and the rules governing notifications.

How can I find out my risk exposure before traveling to a new location?

You can significantly reduce the uncertainty of a new place by using Safe-esteem’s Explore function. From the main screen, just select the Explorer tab. You can then zoom into any region of the world to discover how your personal risk scores will compare to those at in your home region.
